Run a Social Media Fundraiser
Your story has power—and you can use it to help save lives. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, honoring a loved one, or just want to make a difference, starting a personal fundraiser on Facebook or Instagram is an easy and impactful way to support SAFE Project’s mission.
1 – Go to the Facebook Fundraisers page:
Visit facebook.com/fundraisers and click on “Raise Money.”
2 – Select Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic (SAFE) as your nonprofit:
In the “Who are you raising money for?” screen, click Nonprofit and search for SAFE Project. Make sure it’s the correct organization with our official logo.
3 – Fill in your fundraiser details:
- Fundraising goal (any amount helps!)
- End date (you can run it for a few days or the whole month)
- Title (e.g., “Help Me Support Overdose Prevention!”)
- Why are you raising money? Tell your story. Share why this mission matters to you.
4 – Choose a cover photo:
Facebook may auto-select one, but you can upload your own or use one from SAFE the SAFE Project page for a more personal touch.
5 – Click “Create” and share your fundraiser:
Once it’s live, invite your friends, post regular updates, and thank your supporters to keep the momentum going!
Option 1: Create a Fundraiser in Your Story
- Open Instagram and tap the plus (+) icon to create a new Story.
- Upload a photo or video, then tap the sticker icon at the top.
- Select the “Fundraiser” sticker.
- Search for and select SAFE Project (@safeprojectus) as your nonprofit.
- Add a personal message or reason for fundraising.
- Share your Story and encourage others to donate or reshare.
Option 2: Add a Fundraiser to Your Profile
- Go to your Instagram profile and tap the menu (☰) in the top right.
- Select “Fundraiser,” then tap “Raise Money.”
- Search for SAFE Project and fill out your fundraiser details:
- Title
- Goal amount
- Personal story
Tap Done—your fundraiser will now appear in your profile bio for 30 days. You can share it in Stories to boost visibility.
