* 3rd party prescribing allows a prescriber to write a prescription for a medication to someone other than the intended user of the medication.

* A standing order is a mechanism by which a healthcare provider with prescribing privileges, including a state health officer, writes a prescription that covers a large group of people. Naloxone can be obtained at most but not all pharmacies due to varying state laws and requirements. Check to see if your pharmacy participates in the naloxone standing order.
