This conversation centers on the practical and philosophical intersections between harm reduction and recovery, and how connecting these approaches can lead to more inclusive, effective, and compassionate systems of care.
Alexis Wright
Moderator
Alexis Wright served as a political appointee for two US Presidents and the Mayor of Seattle. Committed to developing effective strategies grounded in science and evidence to curb addiction. At Georgetown University, Regina created and directs a unique Master of Science in Addiction Policy and Practice. A recognized public policy expert, Regina has testified before Congress and is regularly quoted in the media, including appearances on MSNBC, CNN, and the BBC.


Kimber King
An overdose and drug war survivor, Kimber King (she/her) refuses to stay silent. She channels her lived experience into urgent, compassionate action against preventable overdose deaths.
Mark Jachym
Mark Jachym is a Harm Reduction Coordinator for a local non-profit in Western Massachusetts. He specializes in harm reduction and street outreach, drawing on his personal past experience with substance use disorder to support and empower others. As a passionate advocate, he champions the rights of individuals who use substances, public health initiatives, social justice causes, and the importance of low-barrier housing. Through his work, he strives to make a positive impact in his community and promote a more inclusive and compassionate society by reducing the stigma and marginalization associated with substance use.


Nico Starink
Based on his own recovery experience with addiction, J. Chad Jackson has served as the Executive Director of two different Intensive Outpatient Programs and worked with several treatment facilities to prepare for Joint Commission certification. Chad also advises companies on the merits of investing in recovery facilities and helps bring together financing and innovation in the recovery field. He serves as the Chair of the DC Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission and served on the transition team for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
