Virginia Employment Commission

Veterans from all periods of military service are eligible for job referral, job training and job placement assistance through the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC). Homeless Veterans Committee

The Committee oversees the Homeless Veterans Program which provides services to veterans, their dependents, and survivors with financial assistance and information concerning available benefits available from both governmental and non-governmental organizations. The Department of Virginia Service Commission (DSC) provides oversight over the program under the direct supervision of the Department Service Director (DSD).

Homes for our Troops

Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.

Langley Family Housing

Movers Development Center – M3BridgeRecovery

The Movers Development Center – M3BridgeRecovery Center is dedicated to providing high quality recovery services, life skills training, and supportive therapeutic housing to people with substance use disorder. All of the sober living homes are Virginia Association of Recovery Residency Certified recovery residencies and located in Southside Richmond and Chesterfield Counties.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families

For very low-income Veterans, SSVF provides case management and supportive services to prevent the imminent loss of a Veteran’s home or identify a new, more suitable housing situation for the individual and his or her family; or to rapidly re-house Veterans and their families who are homeless and might remain homeless without this assistance.

Virginia Housing

The Granting Freedom grant is available for residences or rental units. Grant funds can be used to widen doorways and add ramps to make a home wheelchair accessible, to install grab bars or to make other recommendations by the VA.

Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic

The Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic offers students the opportunity to assist veterans with filing claims for disability compensation with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under attorney supervision, clinic students have the opportunity to interview clients, analyze medical records, communicate with health care providers, and craft strategies to help clients receive disability compensation. These services can have life-changing effects on the veterans we serve.

Lock & Talk

Lock and Talk is part of a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is being implemented by the Wellness, Health Promotion and Prevention program. The Prevention team is offering free cable and trigger locks and locking medication boxes, as well as drug disposal kits. Gun locks and lock boxes include information on safe handling and messaging, and tips to secure firearms and medications.

Mason Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic (M-VETS) representation of active duty service members, veterans, and dependent family members of active duty or veterans is limited to assistance with administrative and military law and entitlement matters, medical/physical evaluation board representation, Department of Veterans Affairs disability and educational benefits appeals (other than initial claims for service connection), applications before Discharge Review Boards, and Boards for Correction of Military Records.

The Armed Forces Wellness Center (AFWC) provides integrated and standardized primary prevention programs and services that promote enhanced and sustained healthy lifestyles to improve the overall well-being of Service Members, Family Members, Retirees, and DoD Civilians.

The Barry Robinson Center

The Barry Robinson Center has been improving the lives of children and families. The Center offers a residential treatment program for military-connected youth with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Youth, ages 11-17, from military-connected families will find a supportive community here. Our treatment programs have been designed to help children and teens from military-connected families find understanding and acceptance, which contributes to their success in treatment. Many of our employees served in the military, and we are committed to training all employees in military lifestyle and culture.

REBOOT Recovery

Military REBOOT is a 12-week, faith-based, peer-led course that helps veterans, active-duty military and their families heal from service-related trauma. At REBOOT courses across the country, military families are reconciling, divorce rates are dropping, medication abuse is decreasing, and suicide numbers are falling. You can experience that same kind of breakthrough.

Stripped Raw

The Up Center Cohen Clinic

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at The Up Center provides high quality, time sensitive mental health services to post-9/11 veterans and their families, regardless of the veteran’s role while in uniform, discharge status, or combat experience.
